Douglas L. Diamond

Doug Diamond co-founded Business Improvement LLC in September of 2007 with Cheryl Beth Kuchler to combine their unique backgrounds together to serve the diverse needs of small business owners in the greater Philadelphia area. Business Improvement helps small business owners implement a series of best practices that help their businesses to grow and improve. We understand that each business has unique needs, and we tailor our services to help each individual client.

Before starting his current consulting practice, Doug Diamond was the owner and CEO of Diamond Management Systems Inc. (DMS), a vertical market software company that wrote and installed accounting oriented software and complete turnkey hardware and network solutions in small businesses. Through his 15 years working with various clients on software/hardware installations, he excelled at managing software implementations, monitoring client budgets, and creating satisfied end users. He also ran the product development efforts for the company—working successfully between technical and non-technical people to define products, budgets, and deadlines, and to develop software solutions that helped clients run their businesses more efficiently.

Through his company ownership, he gained experience running and growing a successful business. When he joined DMS after graduating from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1984, annual revenues were $750,000. At the time he took over as President of the company in 1994, revenues had grown to over $4 million per year. When he sold the company in 1998, sales had increased an additional 300% to $12 million per year. DMS grew to employ over 120 people in 5 offices across the United States. During his time as President and CEO, Mr. Diamond crafted an exit strategy, negotiated the sale of his company with several interested purchasers, and completed a complicated merger/purchase deal on favorable terms.

After exiting the business in 2000 – he elected to take the expertise and knowledge that he had gained in technology, project management, finances, and operations and to put it to use as a consultant helping other small businesses and their owners in the Philadelphia area. He founded Diamond Management Solutions Inc. in 2001 to build and deliver tools, techniques, and training to small business owners in the greater Philadelphia area. He became a certified One Page Planning Consultant in 2002, and a licensed CEO Think Tank® Facilitator in 2004.

Mr. Diamond actively participates in a variety of leadership and educational roles at his church, including serving on their Strategic Planning team, and teaching a giftedness awareness program that encourages participants to use their inherent skills/abilities to the world’s best advantage. He also participates as a member of the CEO Think Tank® Board of Advisors. He lives in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania with his wife and two daughters.

Testimonials:

"Thanks so much for the intense Gazelles two-day. It is an absolutely great tool to pull together all of the many aspects of planning that any small business has to consider. I love having the ideas of so many of the great books that you have passed on to me over the last few years all gel together. Your presentation of the materials was well balanced with stories that Gazelles had provided and also stories of your work with your own clients. I look forward to the pool of Gazelle two-day graduates growing as you continue to do the program and appreciate having a common language for us to compare and discuss our businesses and share our stories.

The other aspect that I always appreciate about attending the events that the two of you provide is the atmosphere of community that you build among the participants. It's like that great experience of going to a party at your good friends house and meeting their "other" friends and really liking them. The two of you attract wonderful folks, and then connect us all in wonderful ways. Again, thank you.

This training I know will help Jason and I at LISI and the next business endeavors that are yet defined in my future. Again, a great two days of learning and sharing you are both fabulous mentors and coaches."

-- Alice Dommert, dommertphillips

"The support that I've gotten in good times and bad - especially the bad has been one of the best things about working with Cheryl Beth and Doug over the past few years. Doug's expertise around the numbers and strategy and Cheryl Beth's ability to focus me and make connections to the resources that I've needed have proven to be invaluable as I've grown the business. I would never have been able to make the changes to my business model as efficiently and effectively as I have without their guidance and feedback. And those changes have kept us in business in a very challenging marketplace and will accelerate our growth going forward."

-- Drew Morrisroe, President, CTN Solutions

"As a business owner, you're supposed to know everything and when you figure out that you don't, call Business Improvement. My meetings with Doug and Cheryl Beth provide me with a sounding board and a mental break to say what I'm thinking out loud, to get validation for where I'm going and even to be told when I'm headed in the wrong direction.

Over the past few years of working with them my business has more than doubled. I've learned the ropes of running a business, am better able to see trends, and have become a better business person and a better leader."

-- Eric Janson, President, Parallel Edge
