Jon Iveson

Jon L. Iveson, Ph.D. is Founder and President of Buckeye Gazelles, a leading resource for Ohio’s fast and high-growth entrepreneurs. As President of Buckeye Gazelles, Jon is focused on significantly impacting high-growth companies and improving the high-growth entrepreneurship environment in the Midwest. He spends most of his time facilitating and coaching entrepreneurs to deal with the three fundamental forces that determine their destiny. This approach significantly improves organizational alignment, leadership development and strategic execution while delivering breakthrough results.

As a certified Gazelles Inc. Coaching Partner, Jon brings world class thinking, tools, and resources to high growth entrepreneurs in the Midwest. His LEARNING to be a Champion™ system empowers his clients to experience greater success, improved effectiveness, and a higher quality of life. He brings immense knowledge to his work from his involvement in and research on U.S. entrepreneurship, leadership and coaching. In addition, he has twelve years experience creating results for organizations and individuals in higher education that adds to his unique ability to create value for aspiring, potential, emerging and current fast and high-growth companies. Jon’s strengths include abilities and insights on systems thinking, strategy, leadership, focus, and learning for results.

Prior to founding Buckeye Gazelles, Jon spent three years creating innovative entrepreneurship education and outreach outcomes at Ohio State’s Center for Entrepreneurship in the Max M. Fisher College of Business. He joined the Center prior to its launch on November 30, 2001, to lead the development and operations of the Center. He was subsequently appointed Director for the Center and provided leadership for several notable achievements. During his first full year as Director, Entrepreneur Magazine recognized Ohio State’s Fisher College of Business as a top tier entrepreneurship university/college for its comprehensive entrepreneurship agenda. Also, Jon organized the Center’s annual business plan competition from which the winner of the 2004 competition went on to win the national FORTUNE small business plan competition.

Jon joined Ohio State in 1992 and has twelve years of experience with "intrapreneurship" at the university. He also has professional experiences as a manufacturing supervisor for General Motors, an assistant basketball coach at the NCAA Division III level, a head basketball coach for a Connecticut high school, an instructor for Clarkson University's Management School, and a certified facilitator for First Things First, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, and Principle-Centered Leadership at The Ohio State University.

Jon received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1987 and a Masters of Science in Management Systems in 1990 from Clarkson University where he played and coached college basketball. He earned a Ph.D. in Sport Management from The Ohio State University in 2000. A native of upstate New York, Jon and his family reside in Columbus, Ohio.
